Thank you for this little feature on Brixham’s lovely seawater swimming pool. Shoalstone Pool will be back and open for another season in 2014, thanks to Brixham Town Council, who are in the process of concluding a 40 year lease for the pool. This will take it out of the hands of Torbay Council, and restore it to Brixham, where it was lovingly looked after by Brixham Urban District Council in the days before Brixham was absorbed into the new Torbay Unitary Authority (1 April 1968). Forty-six years later and Shoalstone’s future as one of the remaining public seawater lidos is now looking better than ever.
